The Story
The constellation Draco (Latin for "dragon") was one of 48 constellations listed by the astronomer Ptolmey in the 2nd century, and it remains one of the 88 modern constellations of today. In Greek mythology, the dragon guarded the golden apples of Hesperides, and the hero Hercules was only able to steal these highly sought-after apples by slaying the mighty beast. Hercules’ constellation is situated quite close to Draco, and we really have to wonder if any of the stars dotting the skies between the two happen to be apples spilled by the muscular demigod on his trip home!
